First time planting crypts

Hi, went through the forum trying to find out if people cut their crypts at the rhizome to seperate the crypts into individual plantlets when they first bought from LFS or its much better to plant them as it is into their aquarium.

Can someone enlighten me please?

Its never to late to post a reply. Apologies for being the first to respond aswell. Havnt ventured into the Crypt section for a while.

I personally, and its generally advised, separate individual plantlets of crypts once removed from its original pot before planting. This can be done with a sharp pair of scissors or a knife. Whatever tool you use to cut things in your aquarium. I myself just pull them apart, although a clean cut is recommended by most - so use scissors. Over time these become full plants of their own accord.

When i first started i just bought pots and planted them as they were, this was fine and they survived with no issues. They just became very over grown and bulky in no time at all So now i separate them into 3, sometimes 4 plantlets.

As you realised from my thread in aquascaping its too late already for me. But your replies will certainly help the next person who is having the same doubts because after looking around few forums there wasn't a straightforward answer to this.

Just to add. If you are using particular species as centrepiece where you want it to be growing into one big clump, its better to plant as it is
