Its never to late to post a reply. Apologies for being the first to respond aswell. Havnt ventured into the Crypt section for a while.
I personally, and its generally advised, separate individual plantlets of crypts once removed from its original pot before planting. This can be done with a sharp pair of scissors or a knife. Whatever tool you use to cut things in your aquarium. I myself just pull them apart, although a clean cut is recommended by most - so use scissors. Over time these become full plants of their own accord.
When i first started i just bought pots and planted them as they were, this was fine and they survived with no issues. They just became very over grown and bulky in no time at allSo now i separate them into 3, sometimes 4 plantlets.
