Just bought a bag of 10 yamato shrimp from C328 but when I reach at home, 4 of them are actually if I'm not mistaken Malayan shrimps. I can the the straight thick line from head to tail, as well as lack the dot-dot line on the side. Yamato have this dot-dot line. Does anyone experience this before?

I wonder if those reported Yamato spawn in fresh water is actually malayan?

Yesterday went to C328, notice the bag of Amano shrimp is not that healthy also the colour abit strange, so i didnt bought it, around 3-4pm. Today i went, saw a bag of few Amano shrimp inside, looks like yesterday bag, but lesser shrimp inside with new packing.

Some yamato will have the straight thick line from head to tail, but lack of the dot dot line... Well, think can judge by the size.

agree, that probably not Amano/Yamato shrimp, that is why I'm guessing Malayan.

All the photo below are not mine, it is from wiki, I just link it. As you can see, there is thin white line from head to tail and dot-dot line on the side. Mine have thick white line (very think) and no dot-dot. Maybe because it is shock from new environtment.

It's malayan shrimp. Yamato shrimps will grow bigger & the line from head to tail is not that thick. And yamatos are usually more translucent.
I have a malayan shrimp that looks exactly like the pictures on post #8.

Cavent emptor - Buyer beware. I'm sure if you have asked, you can take it back for a change or even free ones to replace those.
    Cheers!

The price difference is so much for Malayan and Yamato 1:8 ratio.

I have 2 Yamatos in my 4 ft tank but I seldom see them. I intend to buy some more but don't know how many? I want a perfect balance , you know, always see some moving about here and there but not to the extent seeing them a lot at the same time.
