anyone sighted these oto at LFS this week?

Passed by C328 tonight they had 10 of these little suckers at 16 a pop. I still think zebra otto's are nicer looking so I bought 2 zebras instead (btw at 14 a pop...). Just wondering what did everyone else pay for their zebras at C328? As soon as my mouth opens and my accent is heard I've started noticing a glint in some proprietors here in Singapore . Anyhooo, reason I ask is cuz I got 2 other zebra ottos last week from Richard at Colorful aquarium for 10 each (last 2).

i am looking for them too, i prefer them to zebra otos as they are smaller in size.

zebra otos? They're easy to keep as long as you acclimitize properly. I've kept mine alive for months and I believe Quixotic and various others have kept theirs alive much longer

Cant remember when I bought them but they are doing fine so far...

Anybody managed to keep zebra otos alive for over a year? I've come to a personal consensus that in captivity. From what I read, nobody has kept them for more than 12 months. So wish to keep them but the mortality rate is scaring me.

You probably missed out some threads.

On Otocinclus cocama (zebra oto), I have managed to keep a number of them for more than 2 years. Lost some of them a few months back due to temporary neglect, left one of them which is still going strong as of now.

When I initially started out with them, I kept losing them within the first few days and months. I didn't have these issues since I began to be rather selective by choosing healthier specimens, and use better acclimitisation methods. Diet may have something to do with it as well.

I would also suggest that they aren't too different from other Otocinclus, but if you already have problems keeping other Otocinclus, then you may have your hands full trying to keep the zebra oto.

I personally feel the tiger oto relatively easy to keep. Add black water into the tank, it'll increase the rate of survival.
