Hi Bros, got some problem here i dunno what to do, maybe some of you can advice me.

This is my other tank for my faunas. don really have plants inside. Recentlyu i spotted some of my Neon dying. You can see at the filter intake at far left corner. And also 1 cory died at the bottom right corner.

When i open my tank lid to see the filter, i got a shock! cause i have not check the filter for maybe 2 months.

I took this pic 3 days ago and yesterday another 2 neons died. Should i wash everything in the filter compartment? i understand theres BB issues i have to take note so im really at a lost on how to save my faunas. Please advice.

Use your tank water to rinse it, that way your bb will not be kill. You can consider use some bio rings at the bottom and top is sponge, modify abit and it will fit in, next time you just throw away your sponge or rinse it and half of your bb still in the bio rings.

Too much bioload inside the small tank.

The first compartment is Sponge (Left), second compartment is Bioring and Bio home(center) then third compartment is where the pump is i put bio balls. so if i have bio rings and biohome(ibelieve), can i just change the sponges? can i also suck the water out from the filter compartment and replace the tank water in the filter compartment, then fill the tank up with new tap water? But i don wash the biorings and bio balls.

im sorry for all this noob questions.

Probably right, used to have 100 neons, a few other tetras 6 corydoras and 1 altum left now. my altum is also the gangster in the tank. i spotted him disturbing the smaller fishes.

Wash your filter lightly, thats al lyou can do there. Just moniter the situation, especially the Altum - they have a reputation of being a little of zelous with tank mates at times

There's alot of fishes in your tank
Maybe removing the altum and reducing the bioload will help.

Clean filter, regular WCs, add floating plants (tiny frogbit would be good in the small tank)

Ultimately if it doesnt work well enough, reduce fish load.

You are putting a shark inside a group of sardine fish.
    Shown:
    Shark(Angel) fish -> Sardine(neon) fish ->

Very well "said" blue33, or should that be "shown" - haha.

More than likely the Angel is feeling rather stressed with so many smaller fish darting around him/her and naturally he/she is trying to keep them in order by being a little brutish. Unfortunately for such small fish they often get stressed and start to die. So your best bet is to remove the Angel, or the tetras. Ideally the Angel, seeing as he/she is the one that requires the most space and rightfully so - such a beautiful fish

There may be certain contamination in the tank that you are not aware of. If I were you, I will re-start the tank. Add some floating plants and some hardy nanas to provide hiding place for the tetras. They will probably feel less stress when there are plants around. I have ever kept 100 cardinal tetras in a 1 ft planted tank (moss). None died after 1 month.

Probably will remove altum froms the neon tetras, unless your altum is very small and your tank is fairly big.
