Thanks Rizal, haven't really decided what I want to put yet. Maybe just leave the hairgrass to grow before I decide.
Not much choice but to hang it for the time being, my tank is slightly taller than a 1 footer.
Using recycled gex from my old CRS setup, wondering if there is much fert left in it.
nice setup, are you going to get a wallpapr for it and i just wanted to know what type of fish you might get
Try to create a higher slope behind, at about 2x of the front if possible. This will add more depth to your setup and you may even do away with a background plant as the hairgrass at the back will appear taller than the front.
Are you using the normal hairgrass? If so, I am afraid the front rocks will be covered by the hairgrass once the hairgrass fully grown.
My Apisto Keeping Diary
Apistogramma agassizii, Apistogramma bitaeniata "Careiro", Apistogramma brevis, Apistogramma elizabethae, Apistogramma eremnopyge, Apistogramma sp. "Miua", Dicrossus filamentosus
To add on to what Jacian has said, right now the rock formation is centric, therefore the focus to the eye will defnitely be in the middle, just as a circle has a absolute centre point. That may or may not be a good thing depending on what is your design idea. In this centric layout, i feel that the background plant is redundant. Maybe by repositioning centre nearest rock towards the back to break the circular layout you might be able to introduce some other background plants which will make sense of the overall look. Bern still suck at Water Chemistry + Plant Names
Feels that the filter there kinda spoil the look of the tank.. try oyama paper, or get longer tubes![]()
Thanks, not going to wallpaper it though, as for the fish.......
Started with the back much higher than the front, somewhere along the way it sort of leveled out when I started shifting the rocks. Will try to find some more substrate to add to it and change the slope. Afraid of not being able to put the rockscape back afterwards also.
Yes, I'm afraid that is normal hairgrass, I suppose more trimming will be in order then.
Thanks for the input.
I kinda like the idea that the focus is in the middle, therefore, the reason why I have yet to add any background plants. My only fear now is that if I adjust the slope I will have trouble setting the rocks again.
Thanks for the input.
Thanks, have to go get the tubes, at the moment they are too short, don't think I will get any oyama. The tank as it is, is in a temporary location. Have to go get a new piece of styrofoam too.
yea, it would probably look better without a background
Increased slope, now waiting for the water to clear.

Now I wish they would grow faster, which I am sure that I would be wishing the opposite later. By the way, where did you get the eheim tubes?
Can see you are using a Nikon
This tall tank is actually not ideal for your kinda iwagumi layout as you will end up having too much empty space on top.
Suggest you keep fishes that is more tallish instead of longish... and mid to surface dwellers to fill up the empty space.
Hehehe, darn reflection!
The tank is actually 12 in X 12in X 16in. Got it free the last aquarama, been laying around so thought I give it a go.
Initially thought of putting a bunch of Didiplis diandra at the rear left hand corner and trim it round. But looked at the layout and decided it looked okay so I didn't proceed. Maybe I will add some when the hairgrass grows out.
Any suggestions for the fauna? I intend to put a few yamatos inside too, love them for algae control, hair algae especially.
looks good and the yamatos are a good choice.
