About time I posted on here. After lurking and learning I'm posting my 6x2x2 tank which is in my bedroom. Scape is 2 months old, no ferts for past month while tank stabilised and algae was beaten back. Now everything is good I will start a proper fertiliser regime. Sorry for the bad pic. Comments/criticism welcome, I'm still learning.

    Tank: 6x2x2ft
    Lighting: 8x39w t5
    Substrate: Plain river sand
Ferts: Root tabs and flourish + DIY CO2
Plants: Narrow java fern, Bolbitis, Val gigantea, Val nana, Val gracilis (carpet), xmass moss, Crypt wendtii (green and brown), Blyxa Auberti
Fauna: Cherry shrimp and whitecloud minnow

    Love the wood!

But if it were me, I would put most of them pointing in the same direction with few of the shorter ones in the other to balance it out.

Looking forward to see the tank fill out

6' tank in your bedroom. WOW

Thanks for the comments. Not sure what fish will go in yet, will wait to get the plants well established before I add anything big.

Ahh, Dave at Aquagreen has lots of good natives and always gives extra's when you order. I catch P. signifer directly from Harvey creek when I go up north for holidays, used to have a big school in this tank.

Jervis, maybe I will do P. signifer "Harvey Creek" again rather than any larger rainbows, I probably want somthing more exotic this time around. Maybe a group of snakehead gudgeons. I have 3 growing in the 6ft tank outside.

carlfsk, thanks for the comment, this is the first time I planned a scape beforehand, am happy with the result so far.

iwishweallcouldwin, have to admit it is a nice thing to wake up to every morning.

blue33, will borrow my housemates camera and get some closeups tonight.

You probably need a really really large school of P. signifer to be able to notice them in a 6 feet tank.

How about some native perch, galaxias or gudgeons? I think these are really really interesting Australian native fishes, which deserves wider exposure and attention, coming from an non Australian perspective. If only they are available here in Singapore...

Most of the perch are fairly boisterous and will probably uproot the plants. Galaxias like cooler waters which is hard to maintain. I am heading more and more towards a snakehead gudgeon tank with this. That way I get big fish and nice colours.

Unfortunately snakeheads are illegal in Australia(along with just about everything else). I'd love some channa gachua, pulchra or bleheri for the tank. Closest we can get (legally) is native fish like O. aporos(snakehead gudgeon).

I think their range is Australia to Asia region so should be able to get in Singapore? Some more blue, some nearly all orange/red.
