Just want to share my rescaped 4ft. Inspired by many scapes depicting tree roots under water. So decided to venture and do one with my available woods. Still looks very amateurish though.

    Here goes

Plants are mostly crypts from mizuworld and teo's farm. And some recycled from my old scape.

Personally i think the branch on the left is too thick making the whole composition unbalanced. But since i've already planted the crypts and don't really want to move them too much, decided to let it as it is.

Would like recommendations on what show fish should I keep? Current fauna includes 20+ cardinals, 20++ yamatoes n malayan shrimps, 3 pairs of Dicrossus filamentosus, 3 neon gobies, 5 otos, 2 zebra otos and 10 cory duplicareus which are still in the bag, collected from a bro this morning

    Cheers

Gourami's arent often used in peoples scapes over there. Atleast i havnt seen any threads on here with people using Gourami's, always Apisto's. They could be different. Especially if you were to get a larger one such as Pearl Gourami?

Possibly Firemouth Cichlid? Hmmm. Quite alot of choice when you think of it.

    One month update:

Growth is slow. Only notable growth is from the Mi Oya. Would like the parva to grow faster though but all things considered, everything is going nicely with some bouts of GSA and BBA but nothing uncontrollable.

Notice the thin stalk that's through the water surface? My aponogeton sp (i think) bought unknowingly from Teo's farm has flowered!
It has flowered for a few days already before i took the picture thus it has already began to wither. haha

The plant is right beside the cyperus helferi

    And my favorite inhabitants!!

Aren't they cute? All thanks to Clint.

Hi Verminator, thanks for the recommendations. Looked up on Gouramis, pearl in particular, but they just don't attract me. Leaning towards discus, but the care that they demand and the possibility of stunted growth in a planted community tank is too great. Bigger ones are just out of my budget.

Altums came into the picture too, but it'll be a big headache for the other inhabitants when they grow to full size.

Decided to stock up of the same species instead! haha

What would it look like if i add a school of espei in this tank? hmm...

Nice growth. This tank is coming along nicely. Certainly giving me itchy feet to rescape my 2ft (its currently sat empty on my shelf).

Shame about gourami's. I think they're wonderful fish personally. I have a pair of Opaline gourami's, although just the male left my female died last week But they are stunning in planted tanks. And they tend to ocupy the higher quarters of tanks where its open space.

Espei would look good, they suit many tanks because of their size and colouration. I think they'd look good.

Looks like the duplicareus are doing well in your tank! Told you you will be able to provide a better house for them

Love your very natural algae covered rocks.

Thanks again for the cories clint, so infatuated with them that i'm going to see if C328 have stock for them again. Tb Ben only left with 3 pieces last weekend that i was there.

Didn't measure my phosphate level and not following EI; only dosing fert based on trial and error brings about GSA, especially on parts that are directly under the light. Glad that someone likes the algae! Too lazy to take them out to brush. haha

At least they are not the dreaded hair algae and i have not seen them yet. All fingers crossed

Nice scape, considering trying moss on the wood branches?

Looking good. Agree with the rest that the tank would look pretty good when the plants fill in. Noticed some green spot algae on the C. Parva. Perhaps you can increase the PO4 dosage?

Hmm.. don't think i'll introduce moss into the tank as they need quite frequent trimming for it to look nice and i'm really a lazy person that's why tear up my last scape with glosso and other stem plants to this all crypt tank. haha

Guess i have to go and buy dry phosphate or seachem to stem the growth of GSA

Current fert regime is only twice weekly dosage of seachem flourish (half of recommended) with 2x54W of lighting. Of course i'm quite liberal with root+ in the substrate.

    Thanks for all the comments

    Re: My 4ft A-venture (rescape)

    Current update

Fed up with BBA so after 2 tanks of 3.5L CO2, completely stopped. Growth of BBA seems to have stopped with no addition of CO2. Root tabs every month makes the crypts and echinodorous plants happier

After 3 tries of 3 pots of C. pgymaea they finally decided to stop melting and grow for me. I seriously think that i'll have to wait for a year before the whole substrate is full of crypts
