i added an assorted range of plants on my tank last month, a little congested i must admit.
i added about 5 tetras inside.
    recently, i noted 2 things:
    1. snail-like creatures began to show up in the tank, mostly on the plant but some are on the pebbles. should i get rid of them? how, just by changing the water? are they safe for the fish? i counted about 6 of them 2. i noticed a plant it starting to et `hairy'. is it s symptom of things?
sorry for the wrong terminology and layman's language.
    any help will be appreciated.
    thanks in advance.

The snail like creature is probably snails from your newly bought plants. I always soak' newly bought plants with a weak solution of bleach and water to kill snails before introducing it into the tank. Once in there, it could be quite difficult to get rid especially with their ability to propagate so fast.

The hairy thing may very well be hair algae? Or is it black in colour? Then its BBA. Check out photos of algae provided in AQ to isolate which one is it...

i tried to take some pics with my camera phone but the result is unsatisfying. i will try again tomorrow.
they are probably 2-3mm in length and they seems to have `legs'.
they are actually giving me the creeps

    thanks for your feedback.
these snails weren't apparent for about 3 weeks until i started noticing them a few days ago. and they are very, very small for now. i doubt it came with the plants altho' you could be right.
i hope my tank doesn't get infested. i will be more careful in the future. thanks!

edit. the `hair' seems inherent from the plant. i also notice the `health' of the plant is deteriorating. small leaves began to wither.

erm.. not really... it's brown and short (like hair) not really sure if it's algae but it only occurs on some parts of the plants

    Hi,

The picture is not very clear. Thus hard to define what it is.

Try to take a clearer picture.

this is how it looks like, however, the `snail' is on the glass (i think). on closer look, it doesn't look like one
the hairy growth on the plant is also seen on the picture. when i first got it, it was `hairless'
i went to just aquarium last friday but the friendly auntie who helps me with my questions wasn't there. the other auntie was not that interested in helping me, so i didn't get a satisfactory answer. she just told me to remove it....
