I believe your amano will eat not just the weeping but also all of your other mosses
if they don't find any better food (algae in this case)
I have a 2 ft shrimp tank with CRS (breeding well, > 200) and Amano Shrimps (8, growing too big), and mini X'mas moss, mini pelia, and weeping moss. The shrimps are grazing constantly on the mosses. All the mosses are doing well except the weeping moss.
My question: Is weeping moss more likely to be ruined by shrimps?
I previously also had fissidens, but they alll disappeared after I introduced the Amano shrimps for BBA.![]()

They usually keep the moss and fissiden intact but not sure about mini pillia though. I'm sure you did not strave them right?
From what i know is that weeping moss is not easy to plant (they need high light)
Here's the spec
Common Name: Weeping moss
Temperature: 15 - 28 C
PH: 5.5-9
Lighting: High
Growth Rate: Slow
Difficulty: Hard
Origin:
Position in Aquascape: Foreground
Weeping moss need more than just high light, just throw a butch of them due to the slow glow and mess up with lot of hair algae. I do notice Amano shrimp like to attach to them but not so after the hair algae, maybe weeping moss taste better? Just joke.
Thanks for the replies. The shrimps are well-fed: but they like to nibble all day long. The mini X'mas moss or mini pelia seem alright. Perhaps they grow fast enough to cope.
I have been mean to the plants with very little light (1/2 Watt per litre) and ferts, as I try to avoid algae and nitrate/trace toxicity to the shrimps. Perhaps these are the reasons for the poor growth of the weeping moss and shrimps are not to be blamed after all. Shall try to be patient and see what the weeping moss will do as I increase the ferts a little. I shall not increase the light as I think this will just cause algae issues.
