Bro, Just wonder why need a Nitrate meter ? If your planted tank is well cycle and balance, the nitrate level should not be too high right. If you keep shrimps with plants, perhaps Nitrate level will be critical to shrimps.

Its more for my pleco tank . As plecos shit alot , i am trying to see how high the nitrate level and go . For amno and nitrite i am quite sure my 3 filters can handle the load . Just that for nitrate i am not really able to see . I am trying to lesser the water changes for my tank as i have been doing water change every other day . With the NEWWATER in our water system , it may not be a good idea to doing alot water change .

    Bro drake,

I have been thinking of getting those large blue barrel to age/decholorinate water before using for my pleco tanks...

Fill with water, add easylife/seachem prime... and aerate for a few days before WC?

Not sure when or if I will ever implement, but that may be a good solution...

measuring nitrates will not save you from new water IMHO.

I am using the meter to see how fast nitrate build up in my tanks . All this while i have been doing WC almost everyday . Sometime i feel its like a waste of time and money . I do use overnight water for all my tanks at this point of time .

Have you considered getting those liquid test kits? Much cheaper.
Judging from your purpose of measurement, test kits should be sufficient.

API is a brand that comes to mind.

Do remember that these test kit has a shelf life for the reagent. Always check the expiry date before purchasing.
