Hi all, need some advice. I have a 4ft planted tank with common tetras. Tested my PH and it reads 6.8. Wondering if it's necessary to further lower this value to 6.5 by adding addictives e.g. Seachem Acid Buffer, black water, peat pellets...etc?

    many thanks

pH looks fine. Unless you are going to keep some exotic species of plants (eg. Tonina sp.) or tetras that require a lower pH.

Hey bro, agree with Ben (Mizuworld) too... To reduce further as in bringing it nearer in the direction of more acidic? Unless you are intending to keep fish like Altums (which prefers slightly acidic waters), if not it may not be good for your plants & fish...

    Cheers!!

PH anything between 6-7, you are in perfect condition. Why bother to change?

Ph is alright bro. Decision to lower or increase respective ph depends on the requirements of fauna and flora you're keeping. As for tetras, your ph is ok.

    Hi Bro Mizuworld,

    You have mentioned, :
pH looks fine. Unless you are going to keep some exotic species of plants (eg. Tonina sp.) or tetras that require a lower pH.

So, does that mean Cardinal Tetras needs lower ph like 5.5 -6 PH ?
I have bought XXL cardinal but have not been able to keep successfully, it does about 1-2 weeks, a batch of 30 pieces for $50. And I have not given up, and I tried again, and it dies again, totally loss $100.

    please kindly advice ?
