Apr 09 quarter? I expect the tariff to fall further as oil reached a 4 year low yesterday.

They lost sight of the meaning of essential services, just like the original foundation of HDB.

You can try doing an experiment. One month, pull out all the plugs, and another month, just use the switch at the power socket. See how much electrical energy you consume
Guess what! My in-law went oversea for business trips for more than 8months already, all switch had being switch off except it is not remove from the main socket, every month the bill still came around $28-$29. Electricity still draws from the socket if is not remove from the main plug even if you have switch it off. Sigh!

How about the refrigerator? Maybe still on?
Maybe next time turn off at the circuit breaker.

Really?? Then can you do a test, this time unplug all appliances from the socket and see if the electricity bill now comes to $0?
Safer also, if no one's at home.

    Actually, it is not.

Tariff was increased by 21%, then now reduced by 25%, but between 1 Oct and now, crude oil prices hit record low...

How this drop in crude oil prices translate to about the same tariff before 1 Oct is really beyond me.

It is as if the falling oil prices we're seeing happening since November is only a figment of our imagination.

Every month? Even those months where the bill is based on meter reading?
It is quite amazing that applicances can clock up $20+ bill when they are all switched off.

    Simply switch off the breaker.
You can send your lawyer letter to them if they still bill you after you turn off your breakers. That aside, we have no idea if they charge a basic administrative fees. Maybe you can post a copy of the bills?

They stay far. We only once a while go back to check the letters and some cleaning.
