One month old tank

Hi guys,

My newly setup 3ft tank has finally been cycled 2 weeks ago and I've introduce 12 rummy nose tetras, 4 round rams, 5 SAEs and 5 OTOs to the tank. It has been more 1 week now and everything seems to be doing ok at the moment. I still remembered a few weeks ago when fuzz algae started dominating the plants and I had to siphoned them out every 2-3 days..now they have all disappeared though other forms of less 'vicious' algae has started appearing but they are a lot more manageable compared to the fuzz algae.

Anyway, here's the before (a few days old tank) and after (over 1 month old tank with some re-scaping) pictures for your viewing pleasure. Cheers!

Is that a Hygrophila in far left corner? Impressive "little" scape i'm tempted to say. Even though i know its a 3ft as you've mentioned. Looking good. Keep the updates coming. I like the contrasting use of green and red leaved plants, although the tall one at the back left looks a little out of place. If it was peering out from behind the taller middle plants it would look more coherent.

Appreciate your kind words.

Hygrophila difformis is the plant in the center of the tank, on the right, I've planted a Aponogeton Ulvaceus which has been flowering quite a bit since day 1 and on the left, it a Alternanthera reineckii 'cardinalis'.

ADA tank ? must be expensive !

Any algae issues now ? I guessing non ? since the combinations of fast growers and slow growers are integrated within this very nice eco system

Hi Torque6,

Yes, an ADA tank which I bought from Mizuworld and cabinet is customised to ADA style by my carpenter.

Lots of fuzz algae at first, during the 1st 3 weeks but they suddenly starts to loosen up and died away during the 4th week. Guess this was part of the so called 'new tank syndrome'. Now there are some hair algae but they are a lot easier to control compared to the fuzz algae.

What is your lighting spec?

You use chiller? Temperature?

Nice - I like the burst of colours.

Perhaps you can consider some improvements on the top left side? Trim the Rotala sp. (?) such that it can form a nice ball of orangy mass. It would hide the green piping as well.

Hi Blue33, I am using a nATI 4 x 39W powermodul T5 fixture with Giesemann T5 tubes (2 x Aquaflora and 2 x midday) and an artica 1/10 HP chiller set at 26 deg C.

Yes, I can see changes in plant growth almost on a daily basis. I am new to planted tanks so this really amazes me.
