How to take care red coloured aqua plants?

My tank has only those all mono -greeny coloured plants so I bought some 1 bunch red aqua plants - looks like polygonum sp.
After a few days, all the plants float up as they don't 'root' properly into the soil. The roots wont grow at all and the leaves just detach themselves from the stem. I read up a bit and seems like it requires high amount of iron and so I add in API leafzone still no good.

Any one greenie finger on this?

This link tell you a rough idea on plant deficiency due to a lack of certain nutrient. Before you dose the wrong fertilizer and cause an algae bloom, knowing the cause of the problem and combating it is more efficient. Water temperature and substrate plays a part in the type of plant you want to grow.

Above all, the other 2 main factors, CO2 in the water and lighting will determine how poorly or glorious the plants will grow. Good luck bro.

Strong light, low temperature, more iron, low nitrate and phosphate will make your plant extreme RED and add abit more potassium.

How to get the low temperature (you mean 25 to 27 degrees?).

I wouldn't want to get a chiller either.

Fan can already! At 27 degree is good enough! At low temperature the CO2 is richer. Another way is to put some dry ice.

Actually I don't want anymore mechanical stuffs. Adding those PC fans don't really appeal to me much less for aesthetic purposes.

Looks good. I think I saw selling only $1 for a bunch.
But sometimes only the top leaves are red, the rest are still green.

Strong light and iron(add abit of potassium first before iron) will gives them red, you can always replant the crown then it will look nicer, woman will loves it.

If you want an easy red plant, try the hygrohpilia polysperma rosavernig. The leaves are pink though.

For hygrohpilia polysperma mine was a failure. My leaves will narrow and withering


had better luck with these - Alternanthera reineckii. been injecting IRON & liquid fertiliser directly into their roots

I am having the same issues for Red Plant. A LFS has thought me to put a piece of nail or screw beside the roots. The rust will provide iron to the Red Plant.

I have tried and it doing very well. You may want to test it out.

Even if it does, it will only stay as a red plant tank only because I would not want to jeopardize any living creatures.

Sure! Tomorrow Friday get a tank and plants. I prefer magnets and all this....sounds crazy
