How to take care red coloured aqua plants?

I read from Tom Barr forum said that initially it provides iron but once oxides the tank was susceptible to a black slime type bacterial algae that was difficult to keep in check.

OK. This one is scientific. Anyway I mentioned I bought API LeafZone that already contains chelated iron and potassium. The reason I failed must then be temperature and lighting.(others please enlighten) Seriously this one pulls me down.

Seachem iron is good! Got a Ferroplant Chelated iron, find it pretty good, dont think market is selling anymore, got 2nd hand from a retired hobbyist.

As with all decisions that require resources, I am going to sleep well tonight. Tomorrow morning when my mind is much clearer, I will ponder all the points again before the final verdict.

Why not provide full details of your tanks parameters, your fert dosage regime etc etc? I am sure more people will chip in to give advice if you provide more details. Cheers!

my tank is in disarray now. cardinals are dying so can I still continue with my fertiliser regime (once 2 days Iron & Trace) or should I stop for awhile?

I checked with the LFS about this iron screw thing and decided not to go ahead as I won't want to end up having a

.

But I have got myself a very red plant Echinodorus Rubin which was told very easy one. I will also try Seachem iron

after I have done with API.
So I am still orthodox after all and sorry for the disappointment.

I am a conservative man and right now I am only having problems with red plants.

No problem! I by chance bought Ferroplant Iron ferts from a retired hobbyist, try once and see great result, too bad i think they no longer sold in Singapore.

Is a chelated Iron.

This was the condition of my Alternanthera reineckii before.

...and since been injection Seachem Iron, LushGro-Micros & Aqua-Gro last 2 week (least 3x weekly) and this has been the result

You can try Blyxa japonica... just blast it with intense lighting and it will turn copperish

Honestly, someone from Seaview has taught me that. I have 1st tried on my tank in office and have no issue. Now, i have done it in my 4ft tank and the red plant is glowing well.

Seaview people (that mature man) although polite, really know 'nuts' about some of the things they sell. They look like Taipei people to me (if you been to Taiwan). Ya, everything also can if you are interested.

Like Blue33 already mentioned, oxidation will occur. What we can't see doesn't mean it don't happen. We also don't have full details of any insidious effects. (Just don't put your finger into the tank!)
