If you are refering to gex shrimp and plant gravel =>red packet, i find their gravel abit large. I have since changed them to the green packet. check my threads on aquascaping on page 2.
Just cleared my 3ft tank cos i found planaria and some weird worms (centipede look alike),http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...478#post374478
poured in hot water to cook them.
now giving up my crs... and want to revamp into a planted aquarium with fish.
not sure what fish to keep at the moment. hopefully something that will not cause planaria or weird worms.
any suggestions as to wat i should do with my 3ft x 1ft x 1.5fttank?
my substrate base is gex shrimp and plants gravel (red pack), suitable for fully planted?
thought of keeping altum angels, am i able to mix with cardinal tetras?

you won't be able to keep altums well in your tank. altums need a minimum of 2ft height as they can grow large (14-18 inches tip to tip i believe). you could try normal angelfish instead perhaps?
As for the soil, I've used all 3 colour packs of Gex soil and they are more or less equally good in getting your plants to grow wonderfully. The difference is in grain size. My personal preference is for the red pack. Dark green is smaller and light green is larger. Pick whichever one you prefer![]()
