I'm not too sure which sub-forum should I post this under, but please bear with me as I need to voice out my grievances and for everyone to beware of such buyers. I've recently posted a thread to give away my 2 Golden Panchax Killifish, please refer to this thread: http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum/showthread.php?t=45437

A buyer under the name of song76 PM me to arrange for a date to pick up the fishes. At the specified time and date (1.30pm, Saturday), he failed to show up and I even smsed him to ask him where he was. He replied saying that he was stuck at work and will only arrive at about 4-5pm. So I decided to wait for him, he didn’t contacted me or even show up the entire day. The worse of it is that one of my fish being kept so long in the plastic bag has died.

My questions are, why didn't you release them into some holding tank or even a simple container first while waiting for him to collect? How did you pack the fishes? Did you ensure sufficient air in the bag? Some people can be rather irresponsible when collecting FOC stuffs, since they do not have to part with their money hence they do not feel responsible for it. They can even sms in the last minute to say they do not want already without feeling any guilt. I have met these type of people before too. But i felt we should be responsible to the things/fishes we are giving FOC as well. I only pack live-stocks upon receiver reaching in 15mins or less or when they actually reached. Else they are either still in the tank, in a container or in a breeding trap.

And if any one gives me the crap, the FOC stuffs goes to the 2nd person inline. Non for the buggar. Well, we all make mistakes. Let us all learn from this incident and move on. This thread should be in the members lounge instead.

Yes, now I know I should ask the buyers to collect it at my house instead of meeting them at MRT stations. I did manage to put my fish in a container temporarily, but i think it was probably kept too long outside of its tank. Just sad that one of my fish died..

I am sure you are being nice by even offering to bring it to the train station. Sorry to hear your loss.

Oh, by the way, it is advised to use back the same water in the container as the one in the tank where you netted it out. If not, the sudden change in water chemistry may have killed it and keep an air stone running while keeping in a container.

It happens everywhere in all types of forum, whether foreign or local. Even if you want to be nice, you should not go out of your way to compromise yourself. Here, we try as much as possible to weed out irresponsible members.

I've sent song76 (Shawn) a PM and let's wait for a response. If there is no response from him, I will take the appropriate action.

    Cheers,

    Hi celebskin,

sad to hear about the loss of one of the fish due to such irresponsible act of the person who promised to collect them from you... However, if he has got valid & reasonable reason (not excuses - these are 2 different things), maybe he should reply to Benny's PM to clarify things then...

I do have personal experiences of something similar too... Selling something, but buyer expects things to be delivered up to their doorsteps!!! [Come on! If I happen to pass by the buyer's house/work place, I seriously don't mind that...] Sometimes I guess some people just takes others' kindess as a weakness to take advantage of... Guess we'll just be more careful in future dealings...

PS: Majority of the bro/sis I'd met & known in AQ are kind & understandable ones, but there are just a small handful that spoils the mood sometimes... Speaking of this, I take this chance to apologise to anyone too if I'd in anyway made you angry on the same note too... Cheers!!

I am surprised that we even need to compromise ourselves when giving away gifts to people.

Surely the world has now changed and remembered during my good old days we need to thank 'profusely' to the giver till his face became RED with embrassessment.

I also noticed the AD moderators are out in full force this week : Quixotic and Benny are especially active. Pardon me I mean all moderators....active

Especially for them in keeping this forum in shape.

Sell/buy live creatures are a bit of risky and may also cause unnecessary misunderstanding.

If sell the 'hard' infrastructures, my point of view, is OK as that can be verified on the spot.

but life is a gamble right?

Such people should be weed out. I've met both buyer & sellers that are like that. So it's still the same old word 'buyer beware'

On the brighter side, there are always very responsible buyer/sellers around that make the day.

    Cheers!

Ya. Complete obliteration of these disgusting abnormalities that come to the forum to freeload newies and young kiddos.

Their only usefulness is in keeping up and maintaining immunities and alertness in the dog eat dog world and for the good folks here.

I have not heard from song76 on the matter since 8th Oct although he has logged in since then. Given the situation, I've suspended song76's account till further clarification with immediate effect.

My bad experience was the recently case where I intend to sell a 3ft curved tank.1st viewer came and comment that the tank is too big for his car as if it is my fault for selling a 3ft tank.2nd viewer came all the way here and say that too big for his liking.3rd person ask me to sent photo then say he didnt want a curved tank.
These people come with expection that the tank is supposed to be what they want to see and not what it supposed to be.
In the end I give it off as FOC and no problem since then.

    My advice,

Whether selling or giving, always post pictures and give complete details so that expectations are accurate. Then state your conditions clearly for the transaction. It works for me across all forums.
