Just came across the Osram electronic dimmer ballast. Seem useful at time for our aquarium application? We could save power by turning down the light intensity if we do not have high light demanding plants? Anyone has try it please comments. Thanks.

probably very expensive. The normal OSRAM 55W e-balast price is equal to 2 55W light set (light set not e-balast only)

Yes, it is very expensive... last heard was about $135 per set of the dimmer e-ballast and dimmer switch.
