Ludwigia arcuata with small roots coming out at stem

Hi, would to ask.. my Ludwigia arcuata is growing alot of roots out of its stem which doesn't seem normal, is it normal for this type of plant, some of the roots are so long that it is like covering the plant itself. Is it my water problem or lack of nutrients?

Hi, there's no problem at all with your Arcuata. Mine do exhibit the same growth pattern after some time as the stalks mature, i am guessing the roots growth exposed above the substrate helps to uptake more nutrients in the water column. And no, i suppose it is normal in the physiology of the plant type.

I see. Thanks alot Salphur getting worried for it as i initially thought was nutrient deciency.

Im experiencing this not just for the ludwiga species but for the rotalas as well, the roots aids in further absorption of nutrients.

just like to ask for Ludwigia arcuata if trim short, the new stalks that grow out will make it become thicker and bushier is it true?

i had trim it short recently, now seeing a few new stalks growing out from the trimmed area, hope they will fill up nicely
