Hi all expert,I need some advice on the setup of my 3ft tank.
Currently I am having a pair of Apisto Elizabethae Super Red and wild Macrostoma each house at 2 separate 2ft tank.
When I shift to my new house,I will be having a 3 ft tank only.
So the question is should I combine them in the tank,do a plastic separator or put up a permanent partition.
    All suggestion are welcome.

Wow bro, intending to mix them together??? I think should be no problem since it's a 3ft tank but if they do breed, it's going to be a bit headache till then it's alright in my view.. Why don't you get a 3 tier 3ft stand that way can expand your collections YEAH~~!!!
    Cheers,

Getting a 2 tier 3 ft. 1 tier is reserved for big fish.

Did i hear mix them? You are better off passing the eliz to me to help you breed then offer them as a very expensive source of food for your B. macrostoma.

It all depends on what do you want to keep in the future for that 3ft. For me, personally i would prefer to split them into 3 permanent partitions instead of 2.

I think separate them better. You never know what will happen, both are fierce territory contenders. Like genes, I also fear for your elizabethae. Although sometimes they may be the more aggressive fish, but the mouth of a macrostoma still looks very threatening to me!

We still won't know who will eat who??? Apistogramma also very fast at eating fries even though macro may seems bigger??? If he's not letting them breed why worry about the fries??? Unless he do then go get more tanks quick... Still got other fries to raise right?

Fries? we're not talking about fries here. There was no mentioning about fries in any of the previous posts either. I am referring to the macrostoma eating the elizabethae adults themselves and i'm sure iwishweallcouldwin think likewise.

So it seems your advice to mictok would be to try it out to see which of the 2 expensive fish he bought with his hard earn money will outdo, outplay, outlast each other... Wow...

    I rest my case.
No offence too Just my 2cents worth.

I'm sure bro mictok knows what to do... Hahaaa
He's more experience in keeping fish than me
But really hard just a 3ft tank for keeping marco and elizabethae together? Unless he really plan to partition the tank.. Oh i didn't know macrostoma's mouth, so big can eat the elizabethae adults?

i don't think this is a joking matter.

For one, it's someone else's hard earned money we're talking about here. He posted asking for advice, means he doesn't know the answer despite his greater experience than you. What if he took your "advice" and commed them together, and lost an expensive pair of fish?

Next, it's a senseless waste of lives. Let us not forget that fish are living creatures too. To throw away lives for the sake of experimentation or "fun" to see who would kill who is plain cruel. I've heard of someone who decided to put 2 baby altum angels together with a senegal in a 1foot cube "for fun". Needless to say, the angels became expensive snacks for the senegal. What you have advised is exactly the same scenario. It's cruel and it's senseless and should not even be contemplated.

I sincerely hope you would think twice before cracking such jokes in future.

Relax bro illumnae... You really think i'm that cruel and senseless? I bet he won't take my advice.. And please don't... Wait all blame me?

And let's get straight to the point.. If bro mictok, you intending to just house Apisto Elizabethae Super Red and wild Macrostoma in a 3ft tank.. Put partition is the best... You can give 1ft by 1.5ft to Apisto Elizabethae Super Red as they are smaller and 2ft by 1.5ft to wild Macrostoma... Sweet? And please don't use acrylic plastic as partition as we talk about before... Hahaaa like me

Since you can only keep 1 3ft tank, how about selling your apistogramma and just concentrating on your macrostoma? Or vice versa? Your elizabethae pair will be extremely happy!

Thanks for all the concern,I have found a right place to seek advice and some light jokes.

I cant decide which to sell off as I got a nice female to pair up with my male elizabathae which is single for the pass 2 weeks. The macrostoma is a new venture so must see some results or gain some experience about them before it change hand.

I will gather more information from nice brother here through PM to get personal advice so dont find me troublesome if I PM you.

    Good day to all.
