Hey people, just a small question.. Anyone wanna share their methods of preparing the different woods for use in tanks when they are so big.. I cant seem to fit mine into any pail in my house.. So what are the techniques to cleanse them? So far ive just resorted to spraying them with near boiling water from my shower heater..

    Thanks for ur suggestions..

Hmm... looks like you have a very BIG piece of wood there...

Why not try to pour boiling water over the driftwood instead of those hot water from the shower head instead? But do be careful not to be scalded or you may need to do this several times to boil areas that you may miss on previous attempts... However, it'll still be better if you can find a container (pail, plastic box or whatever) that you can place the wood inside & then let it be submerged inside the boiling water overnight...

    Hope it helps...

You got any spare tanks which u can use to dip the DW in.

Spraying them with water might not be able to help as some DW will turn the water brownish only when u keep them in the water for a long time

that depends on the size of the wood. For mine i soak for 2 to 3 days, but i change the water everyday to clear the dirt from the wood. So that when i put intot the tank not so dirty.

I find soaking mine in the bathtub each day, filled with hot water from the tap is sufficient. Removing it whenever someone needs to use the shower/bath and then filling again afterwards for 3 days. Did the trick just fine. Was a hinderance, but only temporary

Ermmm... not many people have bathtubs in Singapore homes.

kachang90, consider buying a really HUGE pail. That's what a friend did, a very BIG one. Can keep aged water too .

[Sorry bro beetroot, no offense... Not getting personal here, just that for some: space is not a privilege; presence of kids make it dangerous to do so; naggy "OCs" who can't stand the sight of the ugly pail with aged water - but don't mind paying hundreds to soak in SPA with other people... ]

What I can think of now is could the tank (where the DW is to be placed) be used instead? But not sure if it can handle 100`C hot water? Maybe cannot use boiling water but warm? At least can soak the DW lah... But also means longer time to get hands dirty in starting up the tank also...

But if you have kid, confirm you have baby bathtub. Each time your wife give birth at the hospital, hospital will give you 1 baby bathtub for your infant.
