I used to have one of this filter very long time ago. Now, it is with my brother and still working.
I think it maybe more suitable for marine tank use rather than planted tank because of the wave effect. So, you are using it for marine?
When the filter is going from dry to wet; everytime when this happen, it will create a slight disturbant to the water. Sometime this effect frighten the fishes. I am not sure if the newer one still have such disturbing effect.
Anyway, it comes with 3 hoses. 2 same size and one smaller. One for input and one for output. The last smaller one is for the air intake. This filter is a little sensitive to the height from the filter to the aquarium. If the height is not right, the wet/dry feature will not work. So, please take note of your overall height. Read the manual before you purchase; and see if it meet your overall height requirement. Hope this info helps... happy hunting.
