I used to have one of this filter very long time ago. Now, it is with my brother and still working.

I think it maybe more suitable for marine tank use rather than planted tank because of the wave effect. So, you are using it for marine?

When the filter is going from dry to wet; everytime when this happen, it will create a slight disturbant to the water. Sometime this effect frighten the fishes. I am not sure if the newer one still have such disturbing effect.

Anyway, it comes with 3 hoses. 2 same size and one smaller. One for input and one for output. The last smaller one is for the air intake. This filter is a little sensitive to the height from the filter to the aquarium. If the height is not right, the wet/dry feature will not work. So, please take note of your overall height. Read the manual before you purchase; and see if it meet your overall height requirement. Hope this info helps... happy hunting.

Thanks Ana, I am going to use it for fresh water planted tank. I don't understand why it would create a disturbant to the water, probably because of the airflow not adjusted correctly?

The filter will be sitting under the tank, therefore, I think is should not be a problem.

Anyone else got any suggestion?

Hi windcharm, it actually "jerk" the water and thus cause disturbant. This will happen in every wet/dry cycle. I am not sure if the newer design of the sponge will help to prevent this. I notice that they have changed the design of the sponge.

This filter is suppose to create more O2 for the bacteria in the filter. But indirectly, too much O2 creation may cause algae. Just take note and be careful if you are going for planted tank.

I am using one and bypass the wet and dry function,
and it therefore works like a canister,
so far no problem but the flow seems like lower than my similar size atman,
but the Ehiem is more than 10 years old while a atman is a 2 year old filter.

i cannot remember, but it should be in the manuals which i do not have.

I think need to remove some parts, if i remenber is a float switch in the filter.

To stop the wet/dry, you could either block the air inlet or take out the float. I am not sure of other method.

Personally i quite like the wet/dry filter, i used it for my 6ft last time, when one cycle is over, the filter discharge all the water in the cannister at once. Thats quite a lot of water. It can spray from one end to the other end horizontally without problems.

The only problem could be it may be too strong for smaller tanks thus causing the whole tank into a swirl.

I have intend to block out the air inlet. This canister is quite powerful i must say
