Yay! WIth the market crashing and all, at least one thing is going right!

Discover that my 'Kogal' tetra gave birth. Saw probably around 3 babies. This is the first time my fish spawned except the mollies, swordtails.

Seems that they're live bearers? Is it possible as I don't see any eggs. Tetra experts? I believe most tetras are egg layers?

This is the setup where the parents right now had been exiled.

    The parents.

    One of the babies.

Congratulations. I am very sure they don't give birth. Eggs are probably laid somewhere, in crevices of plants, decorations, etc. where adult fish could not get to it.

But from your picture, there seems to be some other tetras in the tank as well? How were you able to determine that these are "Kogal" sp. offspring instead of other species?

    Have fun raising the fries!

Thanks quixotic. I thought so. Tetra shouldn't be giving birth to live babies.

I know it's them because previously they were in a tank of their own until I exiled them to a new place.

Sorry don't know the plant. I do know, however, it's not meant to be tied to driftwood.

How do I know that? Because the roots are 'shooting/reaching' into my substrate.

    Time for a little update:

So I counted, I have a total of 9 'Kogal' tetra fries. The largest among them is no more than 1.5cm.

Plan to reunite them with their parents and other adults in 3 months time. Fingers crossed.
