Hi people just wondering how you lay a whole tank floor with moss, is it only possible through a wire mesh?

Guess the process should be similar to that of a moss wall... May need to cut a piece of stainless steel mesh customised to the dimension of your tank (area intended to make a mosh floor) & then lay the moss on it before tying... [Damn siong if the tank is like 2-feet or above... ] Or you can cut the piece into many smaller pieces then tie the moss (not so tiring also...)

Let us know the outcomes ok?

    Cheers!

tying smaller pieces of moss wire mesh and piecing them together on the tank floor will be easier for maintenance purposes. You can just remove the required piece for trimming or whatever.

I am always skeptical about having floor with moss because often dirt will trap on them. As a result, it will impede my moss' growth. Does anyone face this issue or is it only me?

Sigh! That (those unsightly dirt - actually it's those disintegrated soil particles from my substrates) was the main reason why I decided to start up a Süßwassertang floor in my new nano tank instead of the good old moss floor...

Anyway, am facing the same problems (fine soil particles being trapped amongst the Süßwassertang floor) now also... Hopefully when it grows lushly, the unsightly stuffs won't be so obvious anymore...

    Cheers!

    Thumbs up

Yap easiest way is to tie standard stainless steel meshes 10x15cm and place them on the floor. Easy to maintain when overgrown. Just take out that mesh trim or retie and put it back.
