For such a small tank:
1) Sponge filter
2) small packet of ADA soil (I am using GEX soil though)
3) Ammonium/nitrite/nitrate test kit for a starter
4) Lots of Mosses
5) Mini TEM Chiller (Think you cannot fit a cannister filter with a small flow to the normal chiller, or you can put your tank in an aircon room.)

I think that would suffice for a small tank like yours.

Maybe I should share my water parameters with you as well:
1) Ammonium/nitrite: 0ppm
2) Nitrate: <15ppm
3) pH: 6.5
4) kH: 3, gH:5
5) temperature: 24 ~ 25degree celsius

Hope the above information will help you in your shrimping adventure!

Thank for the info,
I have the below ;

1) clip on filter
2) aqua soil (can I place some lapis or any stone ontop the aquasoil?)
3) Will be placing in office, so air con is ONz 24/7, temp should be very low
4) Clip on light

How about water change? must I change often?

(Edit: Your query on moss has been moved here, http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...ad.php?t=46163)

Pardon me, but this just popped into my mind. Is ADA soil a necessity to keep CRS? What's the benefit?

I change 10~20% of the water weekly.

I read that ADA soil helps provide a stable pH at around 6.5. I am personally not using ADA but since MOST shrimpers are using then I guess that is supposed to be a better choice.

Actually I am as new as you to shrimping. Been shrimping for 3/4 months only. Guess I am just lucky to be able to keep my shrimps alive. I am expecting CRS shrimplets either this week or the next. If I can really keep them alive then probably I can call myself a shrimpmer.

So the point is... the technicality part of the equipment, I am really unable to answer. I don't mind sharing my so far success story/water parameter with the newer shrimpmers.

Maybe some other CRS experts would like to drop some advise here.
