Dried ones yes.. not too sure about the green ones...
green ones are not. you can see they have perpendicular veins to the main vein.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

Hi bros, thanks for all the replies. but the green one and dry ones are actually from the same tree, although they looks very different.![]()
haha... i guess we're too used to seeing just dried ones, but here's a link that shows green ones.... i think those that oldstone picked are very young ones.

Hey bro oldstone, where you picked up these FOC Ketapang leaves? Any chance the location is like very near our place??[Share share leh... Hee...] Do remember to pre-wash & soak the leaves in tap water first as you to be safe...
PS: How's the Ramshorn snails you got from me doing?![]()
May I know how we use these leaves? I saw a lot of the trees when I cycle along the canal near Chinese Gardens there, one whole row of trees. Do we use the dried ones or green ones?

yes if the leaves are very young then the morphology is not formed yet. the tree is easy to recognise the branches form "tiers".
you should soak and clean the leaves as they would have collected all the traffic grime, insecticides, etc etc.

oh.. seems it is ketapang leaves..
i picked it from the trees along punggol central.
there is a few trees just outside the mrt station, along the punggol central road. the trees are not big and tall and leaves seems not very healthy because there is holes in many of the leaves. (but this might be good because it would mean it is poison free and some birds or insect is eatting the leaves, haha..)
by the way, i see a lot of dry ketapang leaves along the road..
Beetlejuice, think you never walk home from the mrt staion, right? haha..
as for the Ramshorn snails, they are doing well in my tanks. two died along the way..sad..and they did breed in one of my tank. but after i introuded two ballon rams few days ago, all the baby snails are gone.![]()
and now the adult ramshorns also seems not so active. don't really know what is happening.will keep watching..
Thanks bro oldstone...
Frankly, I (rarely) need to use the MRT... Don't need to take the train to work, if have only to use it to travel down town along NEL... Even if got take MRT, too lazy to walk back from MRT to my place lah, normally take the feeder bus lah..
Looks like I must try to make it a point to take early morning walks to the MRT this weekends liaoz...Hopefully, I collected the correct Ketapang leaves, not wrong ones & harm my CRSs...
As for the snails, just let me know if you need more...
Cheers!
I know this ketapang leaves is for certain fishes and shrimp. But, does it really helps in a way? May I know what is the "actual benefits" you have seen for the fishes and shrimps after and before using it? Thanks.
Welcome to visit my-blog
adding ketapang leave in water will create a more natural environment for the fish, lower pH, add essential element to water and colour of the fish will be better.
It actually softens the water as well. Those that you picked along roadside, please please soak it for longer period so as to get rid of any insecticides and pollutants. By the way, there are many of these leaves avail along ST 96...
