    Hello everyone,

3 weeks ago I bought 6 lionhead and 2 black moor and put them in my 3 feet tank.

It turned out that they had white spot which broke out 4 days after I introduced them to my tank. The white spot spread to some of my tetras. The fish would occasionally rub themselves against the tank wall but their appetite was still good and they were active.

Strangely only my 2 black moors died. The second one died about 4 days after the first. Before they died, they were still eating well and swimming around well. In fact, they did not contract white spot from the lionheads and their bodies did not show any signs of disease when they died.

Can someone tell me what is wrong before I buy another 2 black moor to replace the dead ones?

Do black moors have different needs from lionheads? The gravel in my tank makes the water slightly acidic.

    Thanks in advance,

    Wahboy

Hi bro, I read that Goldfish thrive at PH 7.2 - 7.6 range, although they are able to withstand variations in pH much better than other fish. You may have observed that many fish shop actually use coral chips in their filter for their goldfish tanks so as to buffer the PH.

Warmest Regards from Merviso aka Merv Soh

ya.. i agree with bro Merviso that goldfish tends to thrive in slightly high pH water. The problem with newly brought fish are that they normally contain bacteria or disease. That's why we had to quarantine new fish. personally, i felt it is not advisable to mix tetra with goldfish as they have different living condition..
