Apisto are generally alright in that temperature, just don't make the fluctuation be too great.

I believe the water temperature in the amazon are generally cooler under thick leaves or under rocks. So it'll be okay.

How about you update us with the progress?

    Cheers!

Lowest i went was 26-degrees in an aircon room. No abnormal behaviour observed. But take care of white spots. Fluctuations in temperature can cause an outbreak.

If you're talking about keeping apisto in your fish bowl, i suggest not.

hi thanks for the reply. i havent started anything but just considering. my CRS are doing fine in their 1 gallon vase without airpump. so i am considering a pair of dwarf chichild in a well planted 3 gallon vase, probably with some pvc cut- offs at the bottom

Will there be any filter in the 3 Gallon vase or air stone to supply oxygenated rich water for the pair of dwarf cichlid?
    Cheers!

no air pump/filter. reliance totally on plant for filtration.

i would recommend against keeping dwarf cichlids in such a setup. perhaps you could consider keeping small wild bettas instead?

Keeping a pair of Apistos in a 3 gallon is tough but can be done. You must have very thick plantings, so thick that it is possible for the female to find a place where she is completely hidden all of the time. This is not Apisto keeping for beginners but it is possible. I have spawned about 15 different species in tanks this small or smaller. However, must know what you are doing and must be prepared to move fish if needed.

In terms of the 22 degree temps, look for a species like commbrae, borellii or cacatuoides that are found in cooler water in the wild.
