    Tank parameters: 3-4 W/gallon
5 feet tank. Height 2 feet.
    PL lights 6500K
    Temp ~ 27-28 C
    CO2 3-4 bubbles per second.

My glosso is propagating and a lot of bubblescoming out.
However, the new shoot leaves will be infested with green spotted algae after sometimes.

    Ammonia and nitrite level negligible.

How to get rid of the spotted algae ?
Similarly if I plant Anubias barteri nana, the leaves will be covered with spotted algae after a while.

    What's wrong man ?

    how many hours of lighting?
try to reduce to 8hrs first, maybe reduce to 3w/gallon and observe.
between 3 to 4w/gallon makes a lot of difference for a 5' tank, so can you provide a more accurate figure?

what other plants do you have?
is it a new setup or a matured tank?
    any fertilization?

give yr glosso a hair cut, increase/improve propagation rate... I do give them a cut everytime I do water change.. also, the algae is due to direct lightsource, dont think u can do much

    Hi,

just a suggestion from me, a newbie too. I got this problem when I rescape my tank and what I do is throw in 100 malayan shrimps for a week and take 40 shrimps out after they clear the algae. They love the green algae on the glosso and will finish cleaning it in no time.
    Regards,

don't glosso need high light requirements?
i was told they do and low light will only make them grow taller not producing runners(from own 1 month of experience [] ). got the same problem with mine and worse my nanas are melting! WHY??? maybe will try the shrimp method as mentioned!

    glosso do need high light.
but too much light will cause more algae, especially green spot algae.

Too much light is the cause of the spot algae on the glosso leaves. The younger leaves just cannot replace the old leaves fast enough. I had the same problem when I left my MH lights too close to the water surface. I experimented with adjusting the lights further and further away from the water surface until the glosso have a chance to propagate. My glosso are more than 10 layers thick now. Can see the bottom layer turning yellow and dying. The trick about growing glosso is the lighting. Too much-spot algae. Too little-it will grow upwards instead of crawling along the bottom.

    Thnkz guys.
    Mine is 12 PL lights, 2 feet height x 5 feet x 2feet width.
    Lighting hours 9 hours.

Glosso is propagating very nice at the bottom. Problem is matured leaves tend to grow spotted algae.

Should I take out 1 or 2 PL lights for experimenting purpose ?

The algae in question is spot algae.... I don't think there is any known algae eater other than flower snails that eats spot algae. So far I've tried flower snails which do clear off the spot algae on glass but it left behind little white 'egg' looking things around which is quite unsightly.
    Cheers!!
