Hmmmmnn note that you left the father fish in the trap together with the fry... Any particular reason for that?

hung the cave vertically to remove fry to the trap. the male came out aswell. took the pics then put the male in his cave back into the main tank. all the fry are now in the fry trap and starting to colour up alreaddy. i find its easier to successfully bring up the young yourself. let the dad take care of them from when there laid untill about 1-2 days after the have hatched, then pull them to a trap. easier to spot problems and easier to ensure there eating ok and makes it easier for them to find the food in the trap as opposed to the main tank.

appears to be some confusion over the ID of these fish. Either L260 or L411 Monte Durado....

    oh no.. you're worrying me!!
i sort of just released my babies into the main tank..
and i try to overfeed so that there are remains for them.
it will be dangerous to catch them back now as a slip of a driftwood might crush an unseen fry below it =(

but i saw a few of them feeding...
i can quite confidently say.. they indeed grow faster in the main tank.....
2 days in the main tank, i observed a growth that took them 2-3weeks in the breeder trap...
is it me, or do they grow the most at the age of 2-3mths..?

I had 2 escapees which seem to grow abit faster in the main tank... but theres always the danger of them being eaten up by the other fishes...

haha calvin.. your tank got so many monsters!!!! of course la~ =)
but yeah they really do grow faster right.. very obvious.. i was shocked just now when i shone the torch light.. i was like "Wow since when i have this little big baby around the tank." and then i identified him as one of the fries i release from his cool spots. and yes. SPOTS on L046. =)

from my firs spawn i removed as many fry as i could from the cave to bring up in the trap. 3 were left in the cave with dad and placed back into the tank for him to look after. i found that the ones in the trap grew faster and larger!

once the second spawn occoured i let the first batch loose into the main tank. this freed up the trap for the second spawns fry... the first spawn are over a month old (42 days old) and arround an inch in lenght and are strong enough to fend for themselves now...

hmm did you alter your feeding methods to suit the fries?? cause i had to crush my feed now when i feed so that they have enough.. doing so they have bite size food and that attracts them too.

because the first spawns young are in the tank with the adults, they will choke on bloodworm, even if its crushed up theres a chance, so i wont risk it...
