    Hi All,

I need some help. I got a Odyssea light (I guess its known as Illumax light) PL 24 watts for my 1ft tank and realise that it is not very bright although its 12000K. What about those of you using it? Any comments? I might consider replacing the light tube with Osram lights which I think is much brighter even its lower in K.

    12000K?

I think you most likely need to change your tubes. Go for tubes that are around 6500 - 8000K if the lights are meant for planted tanks.

The color temperature (how many K) actually does not measure how bright the tubes are, they are a measure of how red or blue the light is. See here for more details.

Brightness is measured in Lux or Lumen see here for more details.

But generally, the wattage of the tubes would give you a rough guage of the amount of light you're feeding to your tanks.

    Hope this helps.

I have replaced it actually now its using the OSRAM light. Sigh. It doesn't give out enough lights for my MMs to grow. I guess I will to increase more lights

    More lights more trouble
