    Hi guys,
Why some shops have replacements for impellers? Impellers get worn-off? What are the symptoms for worn-off? What causes it?

    thanks people!

I believe the bottom part of the impellers are magnetic, after a few years, the magnetism might have lost quite a fair bit or the blades might have worn off. The blades are made out of plastic & eventually gets worn out due to wear & tear.

I'm not sure of any symptoms but if the impeller is broken, the suction might not even work properly.

    My 2 cents worth.

    Cheers!

maybe the magnetic worn off due to the motor heat. Also maybe user acidentally drop it.

usual case for replacement is the blades of the impeller gets broken from mishandling or misplacing it back. I have not seen much case of magnetism problems. I do see some people have the magnet broken into 2.

i have had my impeller broken due to mishandling by the past owner who gave it to me FOC when buyin his 2 tier 4x2x2 (2 sets dolphin1000, 1 faulty as above). did not realise it until i tried to use and it gave a noisy rattling sound with very little suction. open it up and found that the impeller stem actually broke in 2. bought a replacement for under bout $30 and its good as new! don't think that u should have it replace unless broken though. my opinion.

    cheers!!

I just changed my impeller of my 2028. Symptom is that there's a weak flow rate although I wasn't able to see any physical damage to the impeller, neither the magnet nor the blades. Guess Benetay for it right... the magnetism is somehow lost.

I changed mine for my 2028 after about 6 years of usage. Not major physical damage could be seen. For mine, the impeller produce some noise during operation. Change to a new one solved the noise problem.

Ok...thanks for the contributions and replies guys.

From what I've researched, the most common problem caused is when the impeller was was running and there's no water flowing through it. It turns HOT after sometime thus damaging the magnet. It will result in slow flow or No flow at all. Like what happened to my Taiwan brand canister filter. I've tried to replace the impeller and Wallah! it works again.

    So conclusion is:

    1. Filter must be connected to water tank when its running.
    2. Prolonged running without water will caused the magnet to lose it power, worst of all damaging it.

    3. Do not mishandling or misplacing the impeller.
