Just noticed that my Sakura shrimp laying eggs, of all places, at the filter inlet!

I've quickly switched off the filter, and the mama shrimp continued to offload all the eggs. Just wondering, will the eggs hatch inside the filter? I've pass experiences where baby shrimps were found in the canister filter, as they were too small and got sucked away.

Is it a case of dropped eggs? Thought shrimplets come out instead of eggs.
Since you keep shrimp in the tank, maybe I suggest u get the sponge to cover the inlet. I have cases that adult shrimps are sucked into the inlets.

sorry to tell you that most likely that shrimp is disposing the eggs. The eggs will not hatch or survive outside the stomach. See the shrimp dropping eggs thread. Mine did the same thing a few weeks ago. 2 CRS at one go. Lost about 40 hino shrimplets. The main cause could be temperature.

Thanks for the replies! I had placed a netting over the inlet of the filter intake, but took it off for cleaning earlier.

Didn't get to see the shrimp "give birth", always thought they'll lay the eggs somewhere, and it'll hatch. Yeah, a pity, I removed some of the overgrown vegetation last night too, the mama was probably stressed.
