My clown loach never hide anymore, although in the early days they spent ALOT of time side by side snuggled up in my wood. The only fish to hide in my tank are my Flying Foxes now, and even they come out once they realise i'm just pottering about my room.

Patience, regular feeding and little disturbacnes will all help them become tame/used to you

    Totally agree with Verminator
Patience is the key for them to recognise you.

Their growth rate are quite slow in captive, those large specimen we usually see are imported.
Mine responds to hand feeding too. Unlike my other loaches..no wonder they are called 'clown' loaches, really makes me laugh sometimes.
To think in some places, they eat them as food.

Just be careful not to cave in the hole, especially if there in it. They always dig, and would just dig a new one if you fill it.

Yes, as food. Its perfectly normal, we don't live there that's why. In parts of Indonesia, Borneo one of them I think..
Just like here in Singapore, people eat tilapia & catfish.
In South America, natives eat piranha.

Loaches are usually shy creatures.. They tend to go into hiding when kept in small groups or worse still I heard one lfs uncle telling me that they will become very aggressive to other tankmates due to self defense when kept in small numbers.. The recommended number is actually 4 - 5 pieces at elast.. Min. think 3 pieces..

No doubts you will find them very entertaining when they got used to the tank.. Beware as they are scaleless fishes.. Therefore very easily prone to itch..

MY grandfather is getting rid of his three in the next few weeks. Due to him decomissioning his 2ft i'm going to inherit his 3, meaning i'll have 6. I'm chuffed! This will be truely spectacular seeing a shoal of 6 playing

I'm going to have to evict a few residents in my current 3ft to make room for them though. Tetra's shall be shipped to a new 2ft i think, along with a few others.
