Have set up this tank for almost a month now. Introduced some cherry and different grades of CRS. Sad thing was my Mosura died for no reason.

i think your crs tank looks nice the way it is with the backdrop. should be a 2 feet tank. can tie some moss on your driftwood. using chiller?

as this is the recycled tank, i forgotten to remove the backdrop and conveniently set up my tank. By then i realised, it was too late to remove the background as i put a layer of form behind my tank as insulation and sealed it permanently. It is a 2 feet tank. Yup currently using CL 280 chiller and still struggling with the setups. And have just added on some CRS just now!!! Feeling so happy but pray hard at the sametime. Crossing my finger and toes, nothing should happened again.

Thought your tank was doing well, your earlier thread said that you have one pregnant Mozura? Did it die?

Do you think that 6.1PH is too low for the shrimps? I thought I read that preferrably it should be 6.5-7. (Then again, my own tank is about 7.4 ...tsk tsk...it always baffles me)

Like what my friend said, (he has been trying for >1 year to keep CRS alive), some people have the "X" factor or "fate" or in Chinese "yuan fen" with CRS.

His tank has the perfect readings, aged water, etc, etc...but still he can't even keep poorer grades CRS alive. He does all the things as recommended in the forums, but to no avail. He has since given up, now his tank only left with one Cherry and countless snails, and yeah his tank and his pump filter are very very clean.

If it is a new tank, I suggest that you keep lower grades first, so that once confirmed the tank can sustain the CRS before investing in higher grades. Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks Bro Brightsp@rk, I have transferred the pregnant Mozura out to another tank. So she is spared from the ill fated. My tank is overwhelming by snail clan now.... have no idea where all these uninvited guest coming from.

i am suffering the same fate as you....
however after afew water changes.... and almost 3 weeks after the deaths started... almost all the shrimps that were in the water along with the bogwood have perished...
however i have added in some new crs in at the 2nd week after my bogwood has been taken out... and so far the new crs have survived a week..... along with 2 commando trained hinos from silane..... those dudes are super hardy....

You could have all the parameters right, but CRS couldn't make it after a few weeks. The reason is simple, it depends very much on how you do your water change. CRS are not easily adapted to change, you should make it as minute as possible.

Thanks fishpoo bro, I only realised brightsparky is a sis after i posted, haha...

Now the only CRS that I retained in my 2ft tank are those lower grade CRS & BD, A & B and surprisingly those survived. Almost all my Hino reported to heaven. Now what I did was changed 20% of my water almost everyday, all oto exiled, these bugers steal CRS food and hooligan.

oh you may want to do water changes gradually as Xmant suggested.... for me i did a twice a week 10% change... for 2 weeks... but then again almost all of them are with your crs in heaven now... haha maybe you could keep us updated on the progress of doing aggressive changes haha
