hi guys i started a 2.5g mini vivarium in my office 1 mth ago. (sorry cant show pic as no camera allowed at work) Its my destressing hobby to stare and watch the plants grow or mist the plants.
i used 5cm of leca as the base, 5cm of gex green as substrate. the background is fern tree root. i bury a 500l pump in a corner, and a rain bar to water down the background.
My first mistakes was the pump is inaccessible and the water pressure was set too strong, once had an accident of the water ricochet out of the viv tank all over on my desk. adjusting the angle of spray lets the fern tree root absorb the water impact. In hindsight, I cover the top when i am not in office.
There is no fertillisation yet, I intend to use ordinary liquid fertilliser, dosing 0.5ml per week. Water used is straight from the tap. Light is from a 10w twister fl spotlight which is turned on 9hrs during weekdays. Cooling to 20c by free aircon during office hours.
The flora is 3 varieties on anubias (broadleaf, wavy leaf and petite) grown in substrate. Anubias are doing well with shooting new leaf which look malnourished. I also put some java moss on the background, substrate and a piece of driftwood. the patches on the background is doing well and looks very nice, the moss on substrate grows in a messy pattern.
The java moss i drape on the driftwood died except a few strands which hopefully will survive to colonise the entire piece. Some is some hairy stuff which i suspect is algae and white mold on the wood though.
No fauna will be introduced to the viv due to lack of space. Illegal immigrant white worms have been spotted and they seem to be thriving on the dead plant detritus. Many a times I have consider flooding the viv to turn them into fish food but so far i have resisted the temptation. I am also considering adding salt to the water table.

The new shoot of the broad leaf anubias grew sky high over the weekend. The stem grew vertically before the leaf can fully develop. tip of the leaf touch the tank cover. The old leaves grow nicely bending downwards though. Tank is 25cm tall.
Is it becos I leave my lights off over the weekend? Not enuf light? I always tot anubias is a shade loving plant. Also I notice over the weekend the plants will have better growth or have drastic changes.
Today started dosing liquid fert 10-3-6, 0.25ml mix with 200ml water to mist over the weekdays.
