Good/High lighting, flow, KH/Calcium levels and temperature.
Usual concerns of stable pH, salinity all apply.
Clams tend to suck up nitrates, KH/Calcium if healthy and growing well.

am trying one marine tank which is mainly for either 1 or 2 tridacna clam at most.
can experts give the most basic requirements to maintain the clams alive since i am going to just put it up for viewing purpose.
i don't mind about the slow growth thing for the clamps.
i will use natural salt water in the tank, which is a 2 ft normal tank.
can this be done?
thnks

25 deg is good, but not really necessary. My 5 clams are doing well and growing at 27-28. I've kept these clams under 6 tubes of T5HO before. I think T5HOs are the minimum requirement, but the depth of the tank also matters.
Not quite sure what you mean by range.

The preferred temperature would be 78K (approximately 26.6C)
For lights, you can go with either t5ho or metal halide. How deep is the tank? t5ho might not be able to penetrate (enough light for clam) all the way to the bottom if your tank is 18 inches tall.
With natural salt water, do take note that the specific gavity might vary and it is best you mix your own salt water. hth
