but the most common in my tanks is fighting or injury if the fish gets frightened and then bashes into things.
usually I see the swollen eye on the first day of swelling and immediately do even more WC than usual, and it has healed up very quickly. The next day it's hard to tell which fish has the hurt eye. In two days it is healed up.
when I kept Africans it was very common, and never did respond really well to meds, it was about 50/50 recovery.
Now I never treat it with meds and get 100 % recovery ( only about 10 episodes to count since using no meds, only clean water.)
I keep a schedule of WC more like 20 % per day right now, by gravel siphon.
I understand some parasites can destroy an eye, but I think injury is more likely.

I only have two Jack Dempsey's, male and female so i can clearly tell which fish is "ill" or whatever is happening. Today is the 3rd day since noticing and there is still no improvement.
