I've brought some boxes of plecos back before and I'm sure others have done the same for cories and apistos.

As long as it's not listed in the CITES list, you should be able to bring in up to 30 pieces of ornamental fishes for personal use.

Quix! Remember the Tai Chung fish run!? That was fun!

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Yeah sure! Like you still keep fish.... More likely to be a bird shoot instead of a fish run.

I still bring back some fishes from Taiwan occassionally. The last batch was a box of L046. But packaging have to be more discrete these days due to the stringent checks, especially by the Singapore authorities.

Yup. Boxed. Survival rate for me is 99.99% so far for all shipments.

Just pack like the way shops pack them for long haul shipping.

unless it has changed, the limit is 50 pcs of fish in less than 3 litres of water.

due to restriction on hand carried liquid, you should check in your fish, make sure it will not leak. I personally prefer mineral water bottles as they are designed to hold liquid. not necessary to pump oxygen, just make sure you do not fill the container (bag, bottle or what not) beyond 50% with water. I normally just fill 1/3 water and 2/3 air. during the journey the air will diffuse into the water to keep the fish alive. also if possible starve the fish for couple of days before shipping so it will not piss in the water and foul it up. I have travelled with fishes in this manner for 24 hours without loss.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.

see my explanation about how much water to fill.

also do not put fishes too big to pass through the bottle opening

    Hahaha...

I think if I go to Taiwan again, maybe I get my friends along to get some real wild fishes from their nice river streams. I see some nice goby fishes... if they are allowed be to be brought back to Singapore.

As for the wild discus, I checked South American exporter from Brazil, just quoted me US $800 for a pair of wild heckel and it comes with certifications too. Of course I didn't accept. My point is get the real thing from the real source.

Another LFS here wants to get me REAL wild heckels... from Malaysia. Maybe they bred them in their wild rivers....

Singapore is No1 exporter in Aquarium fishes. Isn't it ironical to get from other source as if you cannot have them here. Oop.... I mean from Japan.

    Hi Mr Choy,

Just a question to ask. Sometimes I travel to some countries, they ask me if I have any livestock to declare? Any chances of getting into serious problem for this one. I mean some countries custom like $$$ you know..
