ok with fissiden but probably not with riccia. Excel is another issue, it may cause melting in some plants species. for small tank WPG no longer applicable

good question a bit tricky. I usually just look on how the plants are growing. I'm able to grow taiwan moss with 7W before, so I gues fissiden shouldn't be much far off. Maybe you want to try 13W or 18W, give your self some allowance

My guess why it is not applicable is because each plants have their own light threshold when it start photosynthesis. Salvina (floating plants) for example, I choose floating plants because there is no water that restricts the light. In my experience, Salvina will not survive under 7W and 9W but it is start growing under 18W. So I conclude that there is certain amount of light that plants required to sustain their life.

If you really want to know, visit the web site below, scroll to the last and fill in your tank size. It will give you the amount of light, but don't be surprise if it is endup very high (30 watt or more)
