Hi guys, this my 1st time posting over here.

Currently i have a 4x2x2 discus tank. Im having a overflow with sump setup. Im planning to convert to a planted tank.

    1. Would i have great problems keeping the sump setup as i really doesnt want to seal up the hole and use canister? I heard the i will be losing alot of CO2 with the huge amount of overflow splashing.

    2. If i reduce the flow by using a smaller pump, will i get enuff water current for planted tanks? What is the recommended current flow in a planted tank?

haha complaining about it? for being too bare ? well Discus are best to keep in bare, but mine, i never really convert, instead I still leave it bare bottom, but add a driftwood with plants to make it not so awful bare. Visit my blog for viewing.

Yes that's a breeding pair melon (Ugly pair) . I using normal light, no CO2, no fert. Discus needs high temperture, so best plants and hardy plants for high temperture, try get Jave Fern, etc..

    Bro ahtan,

Where will you place your discus if you want to convert it to a planted tank? If you have lots of discus, your sump tank might not be suitable.
This should be your main consideration.
I guess you might have already read up on the hours it took to setup the tank for planted and the weeks of waiting to let the plants grow to stabilise the tank.
If you have a holding tank for them, you can start planning for your planted scape.
Else, you can follow what bro psp did
Else, you can sell your discus and get new ones when your tank is matured. Always on the lookout for nice and cheap discus
