not wise to introduce new guppies into present tank.
is the water parameter will be the cause for guppies.
fin/tail torn as in bite by others fishes or fin/tail rot ?
is always a no no to introduce new guppies to present gupppies tank.

Hi guys I need help with my guppies. I had 8 when my tank was 1st set up and added 3 a few days later for a total of 11 and I've already lost 8 so far........2 jumped and I blame myself and have since taken preventive measures.Another 1 prolly got too stressed when I rescaped and died in my holding "tub". Another 1 was already rather weak when my tank was 1st set up so I sort of expected it to die..While I can sort of understand why thoes 4 did not make it.....its the other 4 that puzzles me. The first was found dead with a torn tail..and the rest all had torn tails too before they died one after the other. The surving 3 however display no such signs at all. My specific questions are as follows :
1)Is because their tails are torn, which I assume is an injury and therefore cannot swim properly and as a result it caused fatigue, stress thus they die?
2)Is it due to other tanks mates biting them which cause the tails to be torn?I have sakura shrimps,Otos, mini size neon tetras and "flying fox(sae???)"in the tank as well and have actually seen one of the "flying fox" going after the guppie's tail
3)Could some kind of disease be causing the deaths or even the sorry state of their tails? The other species are doing well form what I see so far and my water ph has maintained at 6.4 mostly since day 1. It did go up to 6.8 for a bit when I rescaped on sunday but the ph has since returned to 6.4 by itself.
Thanks for going through the long post guys/gals any help to keep the last 3 going is greatly appreciated

Thanks for reply. I did not know that adding guppies like that is bad
As for the tail/fin is rot or fish bite I'm not sure but I will suspet bite more as I saw my SAE "bite" befoe
guppies tail being nipped by fishes will not result to death unless bad water parameter.
so now you know what fish guppy cannot be kept with

Well one more guppy went to heaven....which i find very strange because
1)Was very active for the past week chasing the female around with the other surving male and It just suddendly die??
2)Every other thing in the tank doing well...plants, 1 x sae, 2 x otto, 10 x neon tetra and 3 x sakura
What could possibly be wrong or should I take this as a sign of trouble?
the only guppy left with those group ? sure gone in no days.
CHeers..
Can I assume the guppies were fighting among themselves?
not much likely.
most likely sniper by the neon tetra.

Oh I see..that would explain a number of things : ) Thankyou so much
Well with many thanks to Interestor and AQ's vast information I think I may have a conclusion as to how my guppies died.
I belive I have indentified Saprolegnia on the last guppy that is in qurantine(Hope I can get to LFS in time tommorow to buy meds and try to save her. Without her hanging on for so long I may never have seen the "SAP" and come to this conclusion) and I am inclined to think that it is the real killer. The SAE and neons may have injured them (torn tail fins.... and have actually seen a SAE nip at one of the guppy's tail fin) but it was the Saprolegnia which caused osmoregulatory failure that eventually killed them.
Please do correct me if I am wrong as I hate to have more lives lost because of my ignorance.
did u use age water for wc?
Try adding some salt for the time being and stop or lesser their feeding.
Do note that plants don't do well in salt water....
