Did you DIY the LED lights, if you didn't then which brand is it?
Just bought a 2ft LED light set in preperation for my new 2ft tank
Since I will be decom-ing my 1.5ft tank. I use the new light set over my 1.5ft tank and 25cm shrimp tank.
My 1.5ft tank depth is 30cm.
The first picture is the before - using PL-24W light. The 2nd picture is the after - using the 2ft LED light. As both photos are taken without flash. You can compare the depth penetration through the subtrate.
Now the question is, can it grow glosso?
I do have some glosso in my tank. They never did grow very well. Coz previously I did not inject CO2. And there is no base/root fert added. Just weekly dosage of liquid fert.
Since I just started injecting CO2(also in preperation for my new tank), may consider adding some root fert. Hopefully it can grow faster.
I will have around 2 weeks to run a short test on this LED light set. Will keep you guys posted. Since LED is not really a new technology, hopefully this will keep our electricity fees lower

Nope I bought it from NA. I think he bought the tubes and diy them to the 2ft casing.
2 tubes - with 200+ LEDs each.
Wattage usage - around 14W.
yea.. mr chan diy LED light set.. its much cheaper compared to the other brands.. mr chan said that 1 "tube" of led have about 20 w of t5 wattage.. so 2 = 40watt of t5.. mr chan can also diy another tube in the middle.. pricing looks attractive enough.

Really dunno, it is brownish yellow in color. Bought the pack from Y618, recommend by the boss. He said same substrate as the one he used for his display tanks.what substrate do you used? interested to see how will the glosso grow up or creeping
Before changing the lights and adding Co2, the glosso are growing slowly upwards.

Will monitor the performance of the LED light. Just put in a sandwiched riccia using wire mesh. See if it grows
How long had the PL light been used?

From what I understand, you can use your current light set casing(2/3/4 ft) and replace the tubes with the LED tube.

I actually checked out those small LED spot lights at light shop. They showed me 2 types of LED lights, 1 with require AC/DC adaptor and another without using it.

the light set sure looks very neat & professionally done. Is it ok if you PM me the price you'd paid for your set? Thinking of getting a set too if budget allows... Wonders if it's possible to get Mr Chan to mod my existing PL lightset used for my 1-feet tank (those OceanFree 2 X 11W lightset)...
How about the power consumption, is it comparatively less (in terms of power wattages) as compared to similar PL/T5/T5HO sets?? Sorry for so many questions but hands really very itchy after looking at your set...
Each 2ft LED tube (a conventional fluorescent tube filled with LEDs) costs $55. So for a 2 tubes fixture... you can roughly gauge the cost. Chan made a 2ft for me last week. Still waiting for a chance to use it.
In terms of power consumption... each tube consumes around 7.5 watt. 2 tubes will consume 15W. Now comparing that to a 2 x 2ft T5 HO (48W), that's a 33W savings. Is it significant in terms of dollars and cents?... not really. But that's beside the point
Hey thanks bro Jervis for the prices... Guess it's the initial cost outlay that's high for such a fixture, but cost savings comes latter during operations & the monthly electricity billing... Sigh!
