Moreover, if left unused for long time, the silicone from the tank joints may dry up and leak when you really want to use it.

I think the water need to be moving or active and not dead. So a water feature needs to be a fountain (moving water) or have fishes. So in your case, don't know if you can put in an air pump and one of those "strip" air stones and have an air curtain. Will be very active and have "chi".

Can put hamsters or other animals or plants which deem fit.

For feng shui, it's good to have plants, fish and water ... not necessary the tank. It can be a pond as well.

Fuh wah, this is too confusing for me. First need to have fish in fish tank, then can put circulating water, don't need fish, then don't even need water can have other animals and finally, don't even need tank, can be a pond.

So instead of pond, I put house can? And instead of hamsters or fish or plants, I have 2 very active toddlers running and screaming can? That should create a lot of air movement?

haha, just beliefs only. take with pinch of salt.

from what I heard, cannot have fishes in your own bedroom. supposedly bad luck. having lizards is good, cause they bring good luck. so lets all keep newts?

I just love these fengshui topics. And yes, having a fish tank in your bedroom is not an ideal thing to do

The no aquarium in bedroom concept came from here maybe:

Remove any water images from the bedroom.
Water creates an energy field of too much emotion. When people have water in their bedroom, it can also create problems in their relationship... including lack of passion, because the water cools down the fire. It can also interfere with concentration for students and cause emotional problems for children. Remove any water images or fountains and place them where life is more active in your home. For similar reasons, it's not a good idea to have an aquarium in a bedroom. If you can't move it, at least cover it at night. (http://www.tarot.com/articles/fengsh...m-fengshui.php)

Personally I find it rather soothing to have a tank in my bedroom. Imagine a tank dividing your bedroom & walk in wardrobe, viewable from both sides... talking about feng shui, I remember reading once that a fish tank would absorb bad energy? Thus isn't it good to have something absorbing the bad energy? Especially if you're sleeping in the master bedroom where there's a toilet and the toilet is something they claim to be dirty/bad energy?

Generally, from feng shui point of view, it is good to have plants, water and ornamental fish in the house. So far, I've never heard of empty tanks bringing bad luck.

And from a logical point of view, an empty tank can be used for other purposes like housing hamsters etc instead.

    Don't feel so confused lah~~

If you are really into those feng shui stuff, i suggest you go check with a master for advice. They can give you a better 'diagnosis', like what type of fish would be suitable for your characteristics and where should be your tank placement, etc. some people are not suitable to keep arowana, for example.

But if you just want to enjoy the hobby as it is, then i suggest you go ahead with an open mind.
