hi guys..i set up a pico tank today. it was a gift from me to my mother for her shop(selling clothes not a LFS) main plants are marimo moss ball because i did a search and many websites indicated that marimo moss ball was often use as a good luck thingy.. so i thought of giving her and hopefully it bring a more business!

    tank specs:
    (L) 12 x (B) 10 X (H) 15 CM. ( a 1.8L tank)
    substrate : lapis sand.
lighting : tank will be placed at quite a high area so lighting will be from the celling light.
Flora : needle leave java fern plantlets, 3 x marimo moss ball, mini moss tied to lava rocks.
    Fauna : none for now.

i use my 2ft coasta island tank's water.. tank still at home now.. so took pictures to post.. will be shifting this pico tank to my mum's shop later.

if the moss balls smaller will be better, you know you can reshape the moss ball. Make your moss like a rock, rather than just round.. hint... moss ball cave.

Moss ball grows too slowly to appreciate any growth even in high tech tanks, not to mention a no-tech pico tank like yours. They should be doing fine as I have heard how hardy they are, since they are algae anyway.

Planning to include any fauna, a snail, or maybe 2-3 shrimps? I am planning to start one as a gift, so trying to learn from your experience.

Remember to add some fertilizer if you are not going to add fish so soon... algae needs food too

careful with the light. if it's put too near to the tank, the water temperature will rise and eventually the plants will melt away.

moss and ferns tend to live in cold water with very little of light
