I'm using an Eheim 2008 which I don't see many people writing about so just wondering if anyone could help with how I can clean the filter without doing any harm to the contents of my tank?

Don't rinse the media but flush the filter intake, right? Help me, Obi-wan(if you're out there and into fish) you're my only help...

    THanks!

drain and keep some water from your tank.
    dismantle you filter.
clean your filter media in this "discarded" tank water.
    wash your filter normally.

Why don't rinse the media? Use tank water to rinse is ok. When media clogs up, its efficiency drops too.

heyo , use aged dechlorinated or your tank water is fine , to prevent the BB from being killed if using tap water

freshfish, it's better to use the water from the same tank as suggested by tawauboy.
It removes any "unknowns" in the "dechlorinated" water.
