    Hi,

Got a 2nd hand eheim 2233 and just tested it out today. Initially heard some noise at the impeller side but after some shakes, the noise reduced. This time, I can hear some sound coming from the motor. It sounds like air pumps operating. Is this normal? Also, the water level at the canister never seems to fill to the top til the O-ring part, is this also normal?

I got an atman EF2 filter. The water fills to the top of the filter box and there's no sound from the motor at all. That is why I asked about all this. Anyone can help?
    Regards,
    Brigitte

You should not hear any noise and the water should fill the canister to the brim...Probably there is air pocket in your canister which is causing all this problem. One question is are you using the filter along with an external CO2 reactor or is the inlet pipe of the filter near a CO2 glass diffuser?

    Brigitte,

Canister not full doesn't sound right. Please check, without delay, whether the outlet is emitting any water. If not, the canister hasn't been properly primed. If you don't retify, the impeller may be damaged. If the outlet is emitting water than you've got air in your canister and it'll be noisy until all the air is expelled.

    Cheers,
    Roy
