Would anyone be able to suggest an experienced person that can make a stainless steal tank stand on wheels?

I am thinking of a new project a 4x1x1 tank set up and I want something that can be moved around if required and under the top of the stand have a single 4x1x1draw that can slide out [from both sides] so as to put things inside.

    Something like the below.

    Suggestions welcomed
    Thanks

Hmm IMO, I think you got to have heavy heavy duty castor wheels as just 4 of the wheels to support maybe putting too much pressure on the wheels.

Sounds like fish dimsum on wheels

I believe there are some stainless fabricators for commercial kitchens that can help you with that. I see them along Lavander road, but their contact can be found in the classified section of the Straits Times.

4 X 1 X 1 will require careful planning and load bearing analysis to ensure that it's not a disaster waiting to happen. Especially when it's on wheels/castors.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

    Thanks Benny,

I will be careful, my calculations is that the tank & contents will be about 120kg and the chiller / filter on the bottom rack will be about 30 kg, so that is not that heavy. I don’t plan moving it very often, it is rather about having the choice to do so.

To remove some risk from the project, I will use a fabricator that has done stands for tanks before.

There is one in the Bendemeer Area, they are quite well known for doing catering and kitchen stuff, but they are not cheap I believe.

My only worry for a mobile setup is that of water splashing while the tank is being moved. You cannot fill the tank water to the brim. Drain a percentage of the water volume before moving the tank. It will lessen the amount of water splashing out of the tank.

It just occured to me. Will the silicone hold up with such a large tank while it is being moved with the water swaying left and right?

The castors that this rack will need to sustain the load are probably going to be massive, and not to mention pricey..

    Thanks BFG & Fuzzy,

I would not move the tank when full, just want to be able to move the tank if needed by myself. Larger castors will make it easier to move, but since I will not do that very often more interested in making sure the castors would not break/sag over time.

I have got mixed responses from a couple of tank makers which worries me, some seem to indicate 1] is not possible, 2] possible but expensive.

i'd be more inclined to lean towards 2) pricey, hehe.

Also there would be a concern of how heavy the stand itself would turn out.

I guess you could get by the castor issue by having 6 - 8 or more instead of just 4.

it is possible but it will possibly cost you a bomb. I have seem this house along frankel where the owner have got a 622 on wrought iron and castor.

I was there to help with the moving of the tank. But you may really want to seriously consider and reconsider this option.

I found a tank maker who could do what I wanted, but have reservations about the end result quality and long term stability. The HIGH cost magnifies my reservations and the more I think about it, the more I am not going spend the money. So I will just go for a traditional and much cheaper setup instead.

    Thanks for all the advice.

i might be of a help, i can customised the stand into the demensions you want. But not too sure if the wheels are feasible.

why not just normal stand and then buy a pallet jack if you want to move it , it might end up cheaper or maybe weld the tank stand on top of pallet jack

    Thanks Robert,
Good idea, I can just imagine me trying to explain to the wife that the pallet jack doesn’t take up much space at all!
