Brine Shrimp Direct recommends 25 ppt (see http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/res-hatching-c169.html) or 1-2/3 tablespoons per litre. But it seems different salt mix have different salinities.

Salt may not be needed if you can get the water pH to be around 8 or higher. I read an article talking about salt increasing pH and you can skip salt by increasing pH via sodium bicarbonate or baking powder. There is still some sodium in it but much lesser than salt. Tried it before and it worked. Good thing is that you can try direct feeding without prewashing.

So how's the hatch rate like? Btw are you using hatchery set? Or
DIY ones because you use only 500ml of water..

i am using simple DIY one. easier to handle the hatch rate was pretty much the same.. 3rd time i added 1/2 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate to a 1L DIY hatchery with about 1 teaspoon of salt. hatch rate after 22 - 24hours is almost 100%. but now my fries are willing to take decap Brineshrimp so i stop hatching them already.. also feeding them live daphina which is a easier way out.

How do you judge a 100% hatch rate? Sometimes mine hatchery dish can go few days supply of bbs when i only put 1 spoon they supply..
So young can feed decaps bbs eggs? How big are they if not handle properly you might end up killing your fries...

from what i see, empty egg shells floats. while un-hatched eggs sink to the bottom. after bubbling for about 22 hours. i stopped bubling, let it sit for 10 mins. after that can clearly see the bottom will be unhatch eggs. middle part will be the hatched BBS swimming. so i use use a tube and siphone out the babies. 100% rate rate because i only see very little amount of unhatched eggs at the bottom..

anyway, BBS's nutrients decrease every minute after they hatched. so try to feed them ASAP.. days later then you feed the nutrient level is very low already.

you never feed before decap BS eggs? soak them in water for 10 minutes before feeding. first few days of fries they bite them and pui them out..
now they are 1 week + old.. a batch of 35 fries.. grown pretty fast readily take live daphnia and decap BS eggs readily everyday.

No.. I don't really use DIY hatchery as i have hatchery set...
Yup i know how to feed decaps bs eggs but really don't support much as if i feed too much they can't finish, i also don't have so much free time to slowly watch them eat just make sure don't overfed them... Or food left uneaten pollutes the water..
