I intend to use hot melt to glue some rocks together.
    Is it safe for fauna?

    You mean those glue-gun?

I think the glue would come off the rocks when wet. I tried before. Hope you have better luck.

I've seen Marine tanks use super glue gel to attach coral frags to stones and bases.

Not sure if its safe for freshwater though

Yes, I'm thinking of using those hot melt glue gun....

If it is not water-proof, then have to use something else....

How about super glue? Anybody used it before? Safe for fauna?

If you have come this far, you should be considering silicone which are aquarium safe.

silicone need curing time, the longer the better.. Would prefer epoxy, curing time only 1 hour..

I use epoxy for my DIY CO2 reactor, been using it for 2 years, nothing happen yet but different epoxy may have different result. I use the one that save for plates and cups.

For silicon glue, you also ned to find the one that gaded for aquarium but as long as you buy at LFS, it should be safe.

Epoxy that is safe for plates & cups (safe for human) sounds good. I'll try to look for it.

I know silicone is ok, just that it will need a longer time to cure... and it smells...

Silicon. Your nearest aquarium will have it. There is an Aquarium Grade/Safe type.

Epoxy the way to go, better than silicone for gluing stuff like stones.

hot glue is good for holding plants to driftwood or rocks in terrariums. the plants will take root by the time the glue melts away.
